Main characters

Light Yagami
Main article: Light Yagami

The main character of Death Note, Light is an extremely intelligent, yet bored 17-year old student who is not satisfied with the current justice system. When he finds the Death Note, dropped in the human world by the shinigami Ryuk,(on purpose) he decides to use it to kill all criminals and earns the title Kira. His ultimate goal is to cleanse the world of evil to create a world without criminals and then reign over this new world as its "god."

L
Main article: L (Death Note)

L is the world's top-rated detective and tasked with tracking down and arresting Kira. He often takes drastic strategies to confuse and force the hand of his opponents, and his disheveled appearance disguises his brilliance. He enjoys sugar, and in nearly every scene including him, he is found eating cake or confectionery and drinking highly sweetened tea. L often misleads people with his behavior as well as his appearance. He sits in an unusual position, and he always wears the same articles of clothing. He believes if he did not sit in his usual manner he would lose half of his investigative abilities. He has a habit of chewing on his thumb and holds things delicately. He has a few aliases, two being detectives Eraldo Coil and Denueve. Eraldo Coil is considered the second best detective in the world, Denueve being third. He likes the alias L best, therefore acting so L would be the best detective in the world. His real name is L.Lawliet, 'L' meaning "Last One" or "Lost One" which he was given at Wammy's House. L always suspected Light was Kira, but his suspicions weren't confirmed until his dying moment.

Misa Amane
Main article: Misa Amane

A girl with an immense crush on Kira, Misa is a popular Japanese idol. She is immature and tends to refer to herself in the third person in an attempt to be cute. She is completely devoted to Light, saying that she loved him at first sight, although the feeling is hardly mutual- since Light merely views her as a rather annoying asset. In the manga version, she kills herself after Light's death, which is implied in the anime's finale. What happens to her after the film version is uncertain- the only remaining characters whose fates are revealed are L and the Yagami family- although she is still devastated when Light is killed.

Near
Main article: Near (Death Note)

A calm and stoic character that appears in the second half of the series. He subtly represents a sheep-like figure with his white hair, and plain white clothes. In the anime and manga versions, Near is a primary candidate to become L's successor and calls himself N during the course of his investigations. He shares a number of similarities with L. Much like how L plays with things such as sugar cubes and forks, Near is frequently shown playing with toys or his hair, and he is constantly shown sitting in an unusual manner. Also, like L, Near likes to stack objects such as dice, while L likes to stack sugar cubes. If you compare the two, you can see they bear some resemblance in appearance as well. After L's death, he was asked to join forces with Mello, who refused (it is explained that Near lacks the emotional insight to beat L, while Mello is too emotional and impulsive). In the manga, Near accepts the fact neither Mello or himself can surpass L, saying that perhaps he lacked dynamics while Mello lacked composure. Near then gained the support of the Government of the United States and formed the Special Provision for Kira (SPK). In the 'extra' manga story, set after the end of the series, Near states that, while he respects Light's drive for justice, he can never find his 'Kira' actions excusable. His real name is Nate River. In the film L: Change the World L gives the name "Near" to a Thai boy who is a mathematical genius; L intends for Near to succeed him.[2]

Mello
Main article: Mello (Death Note)

Mello, a character present in the anime and manga versions, was an orphan who grew up with Near and Matt in Wammy's House, Watari's shelter for "gifted" children. Like Near and Matt, Mello was one of the candidates to become L's successor. Similar to L's fondness for sweets, he is often seen eating bars of chocolate. Although Mello is quite intelligent, he often lets his emotions get the better of him. His goal in life is to surpass L and Near. His real name is Mihael Keehl. Mello does not appear in the films.

Shinigami
Main article: Shinigami (Death Note)

Shinigami , or Gods Of Death, are demon-like beings who live in the Shinigami realm. Shinigami are functionally immortal, able to extend their lives indefinitely by writing the names of humans in their Death Notes. By writing the name of a human whose fated time of death has not yet come, Shinigami have their lifespan increased by the amount that human would have lived (e.g. a forty-year-old who would have lived to the age of sixty would yield twenty years). As Ryuk describes it, life in the Shinigami realm is incredibly dull; Shinigami do little more than gamble constantly with their remaining years, and using the Death Note is considered something workaholics do. The main Shinigami featured in the series are Ryuk, Rem and Sidoh. The only way to kill a Shinigami is through love for a human (e.g. if a human was fated to die from a murder and a Shinigami kills the murderer, the Shinigami will then turn to dust and evaporate, as Gelus did to prolong Misa's life).

SHARINGAN and JUTSU info

Sharingan is the blood inheritance limit of the Uchiha Clan. The Uchiha are said to be descendants of the Hyuuga, with the Byakugan changing into the Sharingan over time. This doujutsu (eye skill) gives one the ability to read Genjutsu, Taijutsu and Ninjutsu and then defeat it. As such, the clan member can view a technique being performed and almost instantly memorize the movements required to be able to complete it, including the needed chakra moldings and seals used. However the clan member cannot copy techniques that are unique to another bloodline and the clan member must have a body capable of meeting the chakra and physical requirements to do the jutsu. This rarely stops the clan member though, as such stressful situations often push their limits farther and allow them to harness their full potential.

The Uchiha clan member is not granted the Sharingan at birth; it is only activated later in life, typically during a time of emotional stress in the heat of battle. The Sharingan itself can be transferred to another non-Uchiha by a medical ninja, such as happened with Leaf ninja Uchiha Obito to his teammate Hatake Kakashi. Because his body was not born to carry the Sharingan, the eye is always activated and it burns Kakashi's chakra when used. To lessen the impact of the Sharingan on Kakashi's body, he normally keeps the eye hidden and out of use. Also of note, is the fact Kakashi, a non-Uchiha, was able to advance the Sharingan from two tomoe to three tomoe after gaining the eye.

The Sharingan itself contains three tomoe (comma). A higher mastery of the Sharingan can be seen in the creation of a new tomoe in the eye, with three tomoe being the typical highest form of the eye. The rare Mangekyou form is a unique evolution of the Sharingan beyond the three tomoe form, please see its entry for more information. An eye possessing two tomoe can allow the Uchiha clan member to track the movement of an opponent and do some minor copying of an opponents attack. For avoiding incoming attacks, the Uchiha's speed and agility will greatly control whether they can move to avoid it. However, three tomoe will greatly help in this area.

Two tomoe will also allow the ninja to pierce Genjutsu and see the surrounding reality for what it really is. It can also allow the member to pierce another’s body and see their chakra. While the eye is not refined enough to see the tenketsu and chakra circulatory system like the Byakugan, it can view the movement and flow of chakra. This can help them tell if a person is trapped in a Genjutsu, or if an attacker is a real threat or merely a bunshin.

An eye containing three tomoe will allow the ninja to see the image of an attacker’s next move from the slightest muscle tension in their body. This prevents wasteful movement and allows the Uchiha clan member to conserve much needed chakra in battle. It allows them to synchronize their movement to strike at an area moments before their opponent is even in that spot, essentially allowing them to strike out and hit their opponent before they're even there.

Three tomoe also grants the Uchiha the ability to do Genjutsu and hypnosis after locking eyes with an enemy. This can be used to cause their opponent to do an attack of the Uchiha's choosing. This hypnosis can also be used as a Genjutsu counter, which is the ability to turn a Genjutsu spell back upon the original caster without the requirement of forming any handseals.

The Mangekyou Sharingan is a legendary doujutsu ability which has only emerged in a few clan members in its history. There is still mystery surrounding the eye and the Uchiha clan itself. Each user develops their own unique looking Mangekyou. The requirements for gaining the Mangekyou are very controversial in nature. After Uchiha Itachi murdered his best friend Shisui he gained Mangekyou. He told his younger brother Sasuke that to gain the Mangekyou, he too would have to kill his closest friend. Itachi told Sasuke that a scroll in their clan shrine revealed the true original purpose of the clan doujutsu. This scroll and Itachi himself revealed that the former leader of their clan, Uchiha Madara and his younger brother Izuna were the first to obtain Mangekyou. Madara himself did this by killing his friend, it's assumed Izuna also killed a close comrade.

Usage of the Mangekyou techniques drains quite a bit of a user’s chakra, more so than any other normal technique. Also as a result of Mangekyou usage, the bearer will slowly lose their vision. Madara lost his vision before his brother and sought to regain his power. To do so he removed Izuna's eyes and made them his own. With these new eyes, his Mangekyou took on a combined appearance of his original Mangekyou and Izuna's. These "Eternal" Mangekyou eyes returned his vision and gave him unbelievable strength. With this strength it was said Madara used Sharingan's normal ability to supress the Kyuubi and tame it.

Itachi originally told Sasuke that if he gained the Mangekyou, then there would be three people who could handle it. After the time skip in the series, Hatake Kakashi revealed he too had gained Mangekyou Sharingan. Later it was revealed that Uchiha Madara himself was still alive, and was the "third" user in Itachi's statement. What part, if any, that Kakashi and Uchiha Obito's eye plays has yet to be determined.

Itachi's three named Mangekyou techniques are Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Susanoo, all mythological deities. Kakashi's Mangekyou technique is named Kamui.

The Amaterasu or Goddess of the Sun technique is generated by the right Mangekyou eye. It is a Ninjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou form to create a powerful black fire which can burn through most anything. As it has been said that anything within the Mangekyou's vision will burn to ash if consumed by the fire. The fire itself is said to burn for 7 days and 7 nights. The fire is also regarded as the strongest of Mangekyou's physical attacks.

The Tsukuyomi or God of the Moon technique is generated by the left Mangekyou eye. It is a Genjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou form to initiate a mentally and physically harmful illusion. To utilize the illusion, the clan member will look into the eyes of his opponent and cast a Genjutsu spell on them. The spell takes place in the mind of the one affected, while the jutsu is cast the one it was cast upon is at the total mercy of the Uchiha clan member. The clan member has full control over space and time in the jutsu and can place the one affected through any hell they desire for any length desired. The technique itself only lasts for but a second in reality, but the one affected could have lasted through several days of pain. It is said only a natural born member of the Uchiha Clan can defeat it, this may mean either an Uchiha also holding the Mangekyou or one fully skilled in the three tomoe Sharingan form.

The Susanoo or God of the Sea and Storms technique is generated by both Mangekyou eyes. It is a technique which uses the Mangekyou form to create a sword wielding specter which will surround the user. This specter wields a shield for defense and a blade known as the Totsuka Sword. Anyone or anything cut by the blade will be sealed away into a Genjutsu of blissful oblivion until the end of time.

The Kamui or God's Majesty technique is used by Hatake Kakashi. With this technique, Kakashi forms a handseal to activate the Sharingan in his left eye and change it into his Mangekyou form. Kakashi then focuses on a point on the body of his target. The area around the target will then begin to warp and collapse in on itself, resulting in that area being quickly "sucked" out of existence and transported to another location.

AMATERASU
Amaterasu, named for the Goddess of the Sun, is a Ninjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou form of the Sharingan eye to create a powerful black fire. This jutsu is generated by the right Mangekyou eye. It has been said that anything within the Mangekyou's vision will burn to ash if consumed by the fire. The fire itself is said to burn for 7 days and 7 nights. Because of the amount of chakra needed to use the technique, it can only be used on a very limited basis daily. Though it is regarded as the strongest of Mangekyou's physical attacks, usage of the ability will degrade the eye further and lead the user to blindness.

IZANAGI
Izanagi, named for a god who helped spawn many islands and deities, is a Genjutsu technique which was declared a Kinjutsu by the Uchiha Clan. Using Izanagi grants the clan member the ability to turn wounds and disadvantages into nothing more than dream. It also makes attacks and advantageous maneuvers real, thus giving one complete control over their own reality through an illusion cast on themselves. The drawback being, the clan member uses the jutsu at the cost of their own vision being lost forever. This result caused the clan to declare it forbidden. When the clan member uses the jutsu, any damage received while it is active is negated. Their crippled form will shudder away like an illusion into nothingness while they appear unharmed away from the danger.

The jutsu normally has a short time limit which varies from clan member to clan member. This was extended through the experimentation of Orochimaru, which granted almost a minute of immortality for each eye sacrificed. This was used to full effect when ANBU Root leader Danzou had numerous viable Sharingans implanted in his right arm. This extended time was active at the cost of an ongoing drain on Danzou's chakra. So when active, it allowed him to absorb numerous fatal attacks at the cost of one of the eyes permanently closing on his arm and becoming useless. Should Danzou need to conserve chakra and protect the eyes, he would cancel the jutsu and attempt to avoid critical hits.

KAGUTSUCHI
Enton • Kagutsuchi, named for the God of Fire, is a Ninjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou form of the Sharingan eye to generate a small spiked disk of Amaterasu flames for defense purposes. This jutsu is generated by the right Mangekyou eye.

TSUKUYOMI
Tsukuyomi, named for the God of the Moon, is a Genjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou form of the Sharingan eye to generate a powerful illusion. This jutsu is generated by the left Mangekyou eye. This highly advanced technique can not be used extensively because of the toll it places on the user. To utilize the illusion, the clan member will look into the eyes of his opponent and cast a Genjutsu spell on them. The illusion takes place in the mind of the one affected, while under the jutsu the victim is at the total mercy of the user. The user has full control over space and time in the jutsu and can place the one affected through any hell they desire for any length desired. The technique itself only lasts for but a second in reality, but the one affected could have lasted through several days of torture.

It is said only a natural born member of the Uchiha Clan can overcome the illusion. To counter the technique, however, Mangekyou is not required. A highly trained normal Sharingan user can break the illusion, causing the Mangekyou user to experience additional weakness from using it.

SUSANO`O
Susanoo, named for the God of the Sea and Storms, is a technique which uses the Mangekyou form of the Sharingan eye to create a sword wielding spectral form which will surround the user. This jutsu is generated by both Mangekyou eyes. Susanoo will first form around the user as a skeleton. This skeletal form will then generate muscle and armor for battle and wield both a sword and shield.

The sword is formed out of the sake in the gourd it holds, meaning the sword has no true physical form. This legendary weapon, known as Totsuka's Sword and the Sakegari (Sake Cutting) Long Sword, utilizes the main ability of the jutsu. Anyone or anything cut by the blade will be sealed away into a Genjutsu of blissful oblivion until the end of time. It is said the sword is thus the ultimate counter to Orochimaru's Kusanagi Sword. The shield is known as Yata's Mirror. It is said this shield can defend against any attack. Together the sword and shield will make the Susanoo user nearly invincible. Like other Mangekyou techniques, usage of Susanoo will damages the eyes and health of the user.

KAMUI
Kamui is a Ninjutsu technique which uses the Mangekyou Sharingan eye to generate an imploding transportation vortex. To begin Kakashi forms a handseal to change his normal three tomoe Sharingan into a new Mangekyou form. He then focuses on an area of his target. The surrounding area will then warp and collapse in on itself, quickly reducing the surrounding area to nothingness. The technique will transport the focused area away to another location. The technique caused a huge strain on Kakashi, utilizing a great deal of chakra. He was able to use the technique twice in succession and then revert back to three tomoe. It is unknown how many times he could use it before total exertion.

TENSHA FUUIN
Tensha Fuuin • Amaterasu is a Fuuinjutsu technique utilized by Uchiha Itachi. Seeking to protect his brother from Uchiha Madara, Itachi sealed his Amaterasu within his younger brother's left eye. Upon coming into contact with Madara's Sharingan, Sasuke's eye will begin to bleed and activate a Mangekyou resembling Itachi's. This Mangekyou will then unleash Amaterasu's black flames on Madara.

BUNSHIN BAKUHA
Bunshin Bakuha is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by Uchiha Itachi. At first glance the clone appears to be a normal Kage Bunshin, but Itachi can detonate the clone at any time to form a very large explosion.

GOUKAKYUU NO JUTSU
Katon • Goukakyuu no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilzing the Fire Element. The ninja does the necessary hand seals, draws chakra from their mouth into their chest and them immediately exhales it. They then blow a stream of fire which erupts into a large sphere of flames. To better manage the flames the ninja will bring their hand to their mouth to control it.

Katon jutsu such as this are seen as a rite of passage into adulthood for Uchiha clan members. Once the member can manipulate fire, they are finally recognized as no longer being a child.

HOUSENKA NO JUTSU
Katon • Housenka no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Fire Element. The ninja does the necessary hand seals and then emits a series of small fire balls. The ninja can also hurl a projectile which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Meaning that even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai.

MAGEN-KYOUTEN CHITEN
Magen • Kyouten Chiten is a Genjutsu technique unique to the Uchiha bloodline Sharingan holders. Using the copy and counter functions of the Sharingan eye, the Uchiha clan member can stop the sensory spell cast on their body and reverse it back on their opponent.

RYUUKA NO JUTSU
Katon • Ryuuka no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Fire Element. After binding the opponent, the ninja uses a guide wire to unleash a large torrential fire burst onto the target.

SHARINGAN SOUFUUSHA SANNOTACHI
Sharingan Soufuusha Sannotachi is a Ninjutsu technique utilized by the Uchiha clan. Using the developed vision of the Sharingan eye, the clan member hurls three Windmill Shuriken which have wire attached. While in the air the clan member can manipulate wire to make the blades circle the target, which results in the attached wire binding them.

UTAKATA
Utakata is a Genjutsu technique utilized by Akatsuki member Uchiha Itachi. Itachi will start this technique by using only one finger on his right hand. His target does not have to look into his eyes, a glance at the hand itself will be enough. Once inside the illusion, he can control the visions the ninja sees. This illusion can also be used to play on the fears of the target, causing them to see and hear those who they care about degrade them.

UCHIHA myClan

The Uchiha clan were one of the founding noble families of Leaf village. The clan itself is said to be descended from the Hyuuga clan who possess the bloodline of the Byakugan eye. Because their clan possessed the Sharingan or "Wheel Eye," the Uchiha excelled at being able to read and fend off attackers. This made them prime candidates to help found the Konoha Military Police Corps. The organization itself would go on to incorporate the Uchiha fan symbol into their official logo.

Select few members of the Uchiha clan possess the ability to activate the bloodline Sharingan eye. This doujutsu (eye skill) gives one the ability to read Genjutsu, Taijutsu and Ninjutsu and then defeat it. As such, the clan member can view a technique being performed and see the tricks and movements required to be able to complete it. However the clan member can not copy techniques which are unique to another bloodline. It also gives one the ability to cast jutsu techniques only possible by possessing the eye.

The clan itself is known for their ties to fire. For a clan ninja to be seen as an adult, they must be able to utilize a Katon (Fire Element) jutsu such as Goukakyuu no Jutsu. Thus is the tie between the manipulation of fire and the mind of an Uchiha

Raito hovered behind Ryuuku and Sayu, invisible but a comforting presence for the girl. They were walking towards the place for the sacrifices, Sayu holding hard in Ryuuku's arm, keeping herself close to him. Misa was close by with Rem, but Sayu could not see them.

"Alright, I think I'm going to check the area out," Raito said to them. "Sayu, keep close to Ryuuku."

She nodded faintly and Ryuuku drew her a bit closer as the crowds began to become thicker. Raito sprung up in the air, feeling weightless and wondering just a bit why he did not need any wings. But it was fun to run in the air anyway. He sprinted off.

Ryuuku looked around the people and muttered out:

"They sure look crazy the whole lovely bunch of them…"

Sayu held his arm harder, nodding.

"It's like… they're not even here," she whispered. "You know… they're dead inside."

"At least their eyes are," the Shinigami said. "The show is going to start soon, we have to stop it."

"How?"

"Well, I guess I have to do something drastic," Ryuuku said. "But before that, we need to find a safe spot for you until the time's ready. I don't want anything to happen to you."

As he began to look around, Sayu felt the people coming closer. Her heart speeded up, thumping wildly in her chest as her eyes grew wet. She didn't like the looks people wore. She tugged at Ryuuku's arm a bit, trying to push herself closer to the Shinigami. But hands grabbed her arms and someone screamed:

"I know her! Know her face! She knows those who try to bring Kira-sama down!"

As her hands were ripped from his arm, Ryuuku turned and made a grab for her but was pushed back. Sayu screamed.

"We can't just grab her with that fucker holding a gun to her head."

Raito was vibrating in anger even as he knew Ryuuku was telling the truth. He had made himself appear again, making sure no one saw that and now stood with Ryuuku and Misa, Rem hovering over them. She watched Sayu intently, making sure to try calming the girl down with her presence. So far it was working rather well, Sayu only looked at the Shinigami and knew her brother was close-by.

Misa held Raito's arm and said:

"The police will come soon."

The two nodded, knew that. There was no way L wouldn't figure it out fast when he heard the subtle threat to Soichiro's children. Still, they had to make sure Soichiro would come to see Raito dead, or dying. With those idiots taking Sayu, that plan had been made a bit more complicated.

"What should we do?" Misa asked.

"I know what we should do," Raito said as he heard sirens closing in. "I'll push through, get up on stage, and you guys have to make sure he shoots me as he pushes Sayu aside. Then Rem gives the signal to Sayu and make sure she won't get hurt."

Rem nodded, hearing it from the air, and Ryuuku and Misa nodded as well.

Soichiro and L were out the car first, saw the packed place and then…

"Sayu!" Soichiro screamed.

The girl was standing on the stage, a man holding a gun to her head. There were tracks of tears on her face; she was almost lax in his grip, staring right ahead of her. They could see her body trembling lightly, her lips quivering and Soichiro saw red.

"Cops!"

The Kira-fans began shouting, preparing to attack them when the police saw a figure break through the crowd, fighting off those who tried to grab him, and he ran up the stairs to the stage.

"Raito!" This time, it was L.

As in trance they watched the man turn his gun towards the teen, Raito stopping and beginning to raise his arms to protect himself before a single gunshot ran out through the place. Everyone stopped, turned, tried to see what their 'leader' had shot.

"Onii-chan!" Sayu screamed.

The teen went down on his knees, red wetness staining his shirt and Raito felt it bubble up his throat and out his mouth. It didn't hurt, a more tickling sensation went through him and he fell backwards. They would replace his body any moment now with one Ryuuku had managed to get a hold of, changing to look like him and then he would show up as Kira. Perfect.

It was not so comfortable landing though, his head snapping back at the steps and then he had to lie still. How cruel wasn't that?

"Onii-chan!" He felt Sayu drop down, couldn't look at her or say anything until she had lifted up his head.

Now she did it, pressed it into her arms, hugging his head tightly and he spoke quietly:

"I'm fine, Sayu, perfectly fine, it's all okay. I'm gonna be replaced any minute now, don't be scared, just keep holding on, you're doing great."

She nodded into his neck, hot tears spilling down her cheeks.

"It's okay," he said one last time and was then pulled away.

Sayu now held a body way too still, and looked into the face. Looked like Raito, had his eyes but the eyes were empty, dead. Okay. Time for some serious acting skills. She prepared, then pressed the body's head closer and screamed:

"Nooo!"

"Look!" the leader shouted to the sky. "Look, Kira-sama! The first victim, just for you! Kira-sama!"

The policemen and L had already called for back-up and fought with the masses, trying to push through with guns raised, shots being fired into the air. Some of the people ran off, scared they might get accidently shot. Others ran right at the policemen, screaming and a wild glint in their eyes.

"Time for it," Ryuuku said to Raito. "You ready?"

"Yep."

Misa and Rem was amongst the crowd, Misa pushing people aside to reach Sayu and the body, Rem pushing aside those Misa couldn't quite manage. Raito was now in his real look, with the white hair but now also dressed in white, and he took a deep breath before his red eyes watched the crazy crowd. Ryuuku had gotten down in the mass as well, weaving through to follow Misa.

He walked out in the air and made himself visible. Someone screamed and pointed, and soon everyone was looking at him.

L stared at the young man standing in the freaking air, and wondered if it was a joke. How had they managed it though? Nothing that could hold him up was nearby, and it really looked like he was just standing there.

Those red eyes freaked him out more than he thought it would and then those fixed on him.

Raito gently walked down and the crowds made way as his feet gently touched the ground. He walked towards the stage, ignoring everything and everyone, heard his father and the others push through the crowds to get there. Too late though, for the plans had already been accomplished.

He stepped up the stage's stairs, and Sayu looked up, tear-stricken face. Coming to a stop next to her, he kneeled down and strokes her hair away from her red face.

"Let him go," he said softly. "You cannot do anything for him anymore."

"But… but…" she wept. "I can't… who are you anyway?"

"My real name shall not be mentioned to humans, but according to you humans I am Kira."

His voice rang out clearly, and the crowds stared at him, stared at their God. He looked over the sea of people, and finally the police came to the stage, guns ready. He rose up and said:

"And it seems… like my idiocy has cost more than lives, but also the sanity of people."

"What idiocy, Kira-sama?" the guy on the stage. "We live to serve you, Kira-sama! We sacrificed that brat for you!"

Raito turned to look at the body again, then whirled around and snatched the man around the neck.

"You murdered a child," he hissed, yet all heard. His voice echoed, his eyes burned. "You took away a child from his mother and father! Cannot you see what you have done? Cannot you see those tears the girl sheds, the tears she lets fall to her brother?"

He lifted the man up, made him start choking and screamed outright:

"Your name should also be Kira!"

Raito then threw him down on the ground. He closed his eyes, as if in pain before looking at Sayu. It did hurt seeing her cry, even if he knew they were fake.

"Don't move!" Soichiro shouted. "We'll shoot!"

Raito looked over at the man, smiled a bit and said:

"Where I come from, guns are useless."

Soichiro fired before L could yell at him. Raito saw the bullet move in slow-motion to him, knew he had more than enough to dodge but he had to make his point clear.

It entered his chest and went out his back, a clean and straight shot from a steady hand. Raito did not flinch while the crowd of fanatic Kira-fans did. He looked down at his chest, saw the blood trickle down his white clothes and sighed.

"The clothes were new," he told Soichiro gently. "But then again, I can't exactly tell you to act nice. I have created chaos enough."

"Chaos? This world needs you, Kira-sama!" Somewhere from the crowd.

"I swear, I hear Kira-sama one more time," Raito growled underneath his breath and then raised his voice, "I'm not a saviour!"

The crowd flinched, backed away at hearing their 'lord's' harshness and he glared at all he could find before continuing:

"You're looking at a monster! A murderer! Hell, a sinner! I'm not here to save the world. I lost myself, and had not my friend pulled me back to my rightful mind… I would have killed this world."

Raito walked forward, into the air again and planted his feet shoulder-length apart. Time for the going-away-act.

"This is the end," he said, held out his arms, and with the help of Ryuuku and Rem the whole area exploded in light, the screaming of thousands of tortured souls made all the glass nearby to shatter, and the people held their hands to their ears tightly.

And so it came to pass, that the worst killer in mankind vanished.

Epilogue

"This sucks."

Raito glanced over at Ryuuku, ignored him. The older Shinigami saw this and made sure to sigh, loudly. Raito continued to read the paper.

"Suuuuuucks."

"Ryuuku, what is it?"

"They don't have apple pie," Ryuuku whined.

"You and your damn apple are definitely going to be the death of me," Raito muttered.

"Too late; you're already dead!"

"Smartass. It was a metaphor."

"A what?"

"… Never mind. Where the hell is that brat?"

"Well, she was coming here with Misa. You know Misa."

"God the horror of shopaholic-girls, I swear to God or whoever if Misa tries to turn Sayu into one of them-"

Ryuuku couldn't help but laugh and Raito glared at him. They were seated at a café in a mall, waiting to meet up with Misa and Sayu. Raito was currently under the identity of Raya, friend of Ryuuku and who had introduced Raya to the two girls two months after Raito's 'death'.

It had been close to a year now. Soichiro was now a friend of L's, the detective calling whenever he had the chance and visited when he was in Japan. L had met Raya a few times; first time Sayu had dragged him forth to the detective, introduced L as a family friend and Raya as a cool dude. The Shinigami had had the grace to blush.

"There they are."

Raito turned his head and saw the two girls come running. Rem was hovering above them, scanning the crowds for any possible threat. That Shinigami really was paranoid.

"Sorry!" Sayu said as they came. "We found this wonderful shop; we have to go back there later, please, please, please?"

"Alright, alright," Raito said as he folded the newspaper. "Can you at least sit down and breathe for a minute or two?"

"Apple pie," Ryuuku whined pathetically. Raito hit him over the head with the folded paper. "Ouch!" He glared at the teen who turned back to read the last of it while Sayu's hand came to rub at Ryuuku's head. "At least one of you Yagamis is nice."

Sayu laughed. Misa ordered coffee and at least ten different desserts, a bubble of joy and chatting about this and that thing she had found, a nice top Sayu really should have bought, jewellery she wanted to have, that ring was so cute, her ponytails bouncing with the way her head moved back and forth, her entire being glowing with happiness.

Ryuuku and Raito found themselves staring at her and both had to wonder why wasn't she running out of air already while Rem blinked down at the girl. Only Sayu didn't seem to think it was odd.

And so their day continued.

I know, abrupt ending and short chapter, but whatever inspiration I had for this story have vanished, and this is the best I could do because I refused to just lay it down! So there you have it, I couldn't resist a happy ending!

Masuk ke dalam daftar 'Bingo' yaitu daftar ninja yang harus dibunuh yang memiliki kekuatan lebih. Merupakan kriminal kelas S yang berbahaya dan sangat kuat. Ketika umur 7 tahun lulus akademi, umur 8 tahun menguasai Sharingan, umur 10 lulus ujian Chuunin, umur 13 menjadi pemimpin pasukan Anbu, dan pada umur 15 tahun masuk ke sebuah organisasi kriminal bernama Akatsuki. Di umur 13 tahun, dia membantai seluruh anggota klan Uchiha yang terkenal kuat hanya dalam semalam. Motifnya tidak diketahui, tetapi ia mengatakan untuk mengukur seberapa kuat dirinya. Dia hanya menyisakan adiknya, Sasuke Uchiha. Itachi juga memberitahukan Sasuke untuk menguasai Mangekyou Sharingan dengan cara membunuh sahabat terdekatnya.Itachi sendiri membunuh sahabatnya yang bernama Shisui Uchiha.
Orochimaru mengincar dirinya untuk dijadikan inang jiwanya yang baru. Tetapi Orochimaru sadar bahwa Itachi terlalu kuat dan mengganti pilihannya kepada adiknya, Sasuke. Itachi berpasangan dengan Kisame Hoshigaki dalam mencari bijuu. Dia mendatangi Konohagakure untuk mencari Naruto Uzumaki. Tetapi tidak menemukan Naruto dan pergi setelah mengalahkan para Jounin di Konohagakure. Lalu dia mengincar Naruto di sebuah kota, tetapi digagalkan oleh Jiraiya dan melarikan diri.
Pada saat itu, Itachi sempat bertemu dengan Sasuke. Sasuke yang menyimpan dendam pada Itachi segera menyerangnya dengan menggunakan Chidori, tapi berhasil dihentikan Itachi dengan mudah. Itachi yang menyadari bahwa Sasuke belum menguasai Mangekyou Sharingan segera menghajarnya habis-habisan dan bahkan menggunakan jurus Tsukuyomi untuk membuatnya mengulang hari dimana seluruh anggota klannya dibunuh Itachi terus-menerus selama 24 jam. Pada saat itulah Naruto berusaha menyelamatkan sahabatnya dan membuat Kisame lengah. Kesempatan ini segera digunakan Jiraiya untuk menggunakan jurus Nimpou, Gamaguchi Shibari untuk mengurung Itachi dan Kisame. Mereka sempat kewalahan dengan jurus itu, tapi berhasil kabur setelah Itachi menggunakan jurus kedua dari Mangekyou Sharingan, Amaterasu. Sebelum pergi, Itachi memberitahukan Sasuke alasan kenapa Sasuke tidak bisa mengalahkan dirinya, yaitu karena Sasuke tidak memiliki cukup kebencian di dalam hatinya pada Itachi.
Itachi akhirnya bertemu lagi dengan naruto di part 2. Mereka bertemu ketika naruto sedang mengejar Deidara yang membawa serta Gaara untuk diambil Bijuu dalam dirinya. Naruto bersama Chiyo, Kakashi dan Sakura berniat menghajar Itachi beramai-ramai, namun Naruto terkena genjutsu Itachi dan masuk ke alam bawah sadar yang menyerang Naruto secara psikologis. Akhirnya Naruto berhasil lepas dari genjutsu dan menyerang Itachi yang ternyata hanyalah sebuah perfect bunshin.
Itachi kemudian mengundang Sasuke ke tempat rahasia kediaman Uchiha untuk berduel dengan Sasuke. Itachi menceritakan kebenaran tentang rahasia Klan Uchiha mengenai Mangenkyou Sharingan, yang pertama kali dikuasai oleh Madara Uchiha, pendiri Klan Uchiha. Madara memiliki adik yang sama kuatnya dengan dirinya dan mereka berdua mendapatkan Mangenkyou Sharingan pada saat yang bersamaan, namun Mangenkyou Sharingan dapat berakibat buta bagi pemakaian yang berlebihan, karena tidak mampu melawan kegelapan Mangenkyou Sharingan, Madara kemudian mencabut bola mata adiknya untuk menyembuhkan kebutaan dan menyempurnakan Mangenkyou Sharingan-nya. Dalam sejarah klan Uchiha, setiap anggota klan terus membunuh teman baik untuk mendapat Mangenkyou Sharingan dan mengambil bola mata saudaranya untuk menyempurnakan Mangenkyou Sharingan. Demikian pula dengan Itachi, dia sudah mengincar bola mata Sasuke sejak awal untuk menyempurnakan Mangenkyou Sharingan-nya yang saat ini dihinggapi kegelapan.
Duel Sasuke dengan Itachi pun dimulai dengan pertarungan Genjutsu. Itachi mengeluarkan Tsukuyomi dan membuat ilusi dirinya mencabut keluar bola mata Sasuke, namun Sasuke mampu lepas dari Tsukuyomi dengan kebencian terhadap kakaknya. Sasuke nampak unggul dalam pertarungan Genjutsu dan Taijutsu. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pertarungan "Katon-Goukakyou no Jutsu", Itachi berhasil mengeluarkan Amaterasu untuk melahap api Sasuke dan menyisakan mayat Sasuke dari bagian pinggang keatas, namun ternyata itu merupakan "Kawarimi no Jutsu" yang dipelajari Sasuke dari Orochimaru. Sasuke kemudian menggunakan panas Amaterasu dan "Gouryuka no jutsu" untuk menciptakan awan halilintar tepat di atas Itachi. Sasuke mengeluarkan Chidori untuk melancarkan HalilintarKirin berbentuk naga tersebut ke Itachi.
Itachi berhasil selamat dengan Susanoo yang didapatkannya setelah mempelajari Amaterasu dan Tsukuyomi. Sasuke terpaksa melepaskan chakra Orochimaru yang keluar dalam bentuk Yamata no jutsu. Namun, Orochimaru dengan mudah disegel Susanoo dengan Pedang Totsuka atau Sakegari no tachi.
Sasuke pun mengeluarkan gulungan berisi shuriken peledak, namun dapat ditangkis oleh Susano'o dengan Reiki. Harapan Sasuke yang terakhir pun lenyap. Di depan Itachi, Sasuke hanya dapat berdiri terdiam menatapi jari Itachi mendekati bola matanya. Tanpa diduga, jari Itachi ternyata hanya menyentuh kening Sasuke, seperti yang dilakukannya saat kecil, Itachi kemudian terjatuh di hadapan Sasuke.Ternyata hal itu dilakukan untuk memberikan kekuatan baru "Amaterasu" kepada Sasuke. Pertarungan itu dimenangkan Sasuke, yang sebenarnya telah direncanakan Itachi.
Sasuke terjatuh di samping Itachi dan dibawa pergi oleh Tobi, yang merupakan Madara Uchiha. Kemudian Madara Uchiha mulai menceritakan kebenaran tentang kehidupan Itachi Uchiha, seorang ninja yang merelakan hidupnya demi Dunia Ninja, Konoha, dan adiknya, sampai menangis darah dan menggantikan benci sebagai cinta, aib sebagai penghormatan yang merasakan kematian mendekatinya sampai memperpanjang umur dengan obat.

Asal usul UCHIHA

Asal mula keluarga uchiha, yang kita kenal salah satunya adalah Uchiha Sasuke. Klan Hyuuga merupakan salah satu daripada Klan paling lama yang mendiami Kampung Konoha. Mereka sudah ada di sana(Konoha Village) semenjak awal penubuhannya. Pada zaman dahulu ada seorang anak gadis dari Klan Hyuuga telah jatuh cinta dengan seorang lelaki pendatang. Gadis tersebut mengambil keputusan utk menikahi lelaki itu meskipun mendapat tentangan dari klannya sendiri. Sebenarnya lelaki itu bukanlah orang biasa. Bahkan lelaki ini bukan manusia sama sekali. Namanya ialah Sojobo. Dia adalah Raja Tengu.

Terdapat dua jenis Tengu. Pertama, Tengu Karasu( makhluk yg mirip seperti gagak serta memiliki paruh dan sayap) dan Kedua, Tengu Konoha ( atau di kenali juga sebagai Tengu Yamabushi). Sojobo ialah Tengu Konoha. Dia memiliki hidung yg panjang dan berambut putih serta sepasang sayap hitam di belakangnya. Sebagai Raja Tengu, Sojobo mempunyai beberapa kekuatan mistik. Dia membawa sejenis kipas yg dibuat dari daun Fatsia yg bisa membangkitkan angin kuat. Dia juga mampu memindahkan(mcm fwtele) dirinya atau benda dari satu tempat ke tempat lain. Dia bisa berhubung dengan manusia melalui telepati atau bahkan merasuki jiwa serta menyebabkan mereka menjadi gila. Di samping itu, Sojobo juga mampu bertukar-rupa. Kadang2 dia sering menukar dirinya sebagai manusia utk berhubungan dengan manusia.

Adapun, gadis tersebut telah jatuh cinta kepada Sojobo yg menyamar dalam bentuk manusia tanpa mengetahui identitas sebenarnya. Mereka menikah tidak lama selepas itu. 2 tahun kemudian, gadis itu pun telah hamil dan melahirkan anak lelaki. Sojobo menamakan anak mereka dengan nama Uchiha. Uchiha Madara. Uchiha berarti Kipas dan ini merupakan symbol utk clan Uchiha.

Uchiha Madara membesar menjadi seorang shinobi yg sangat kuat. Dia bukan saja memiliki kuasa warisan dari ibunya bahkan karena darah Tengu di dalam badannya telah menyebabkan Mata Byakugannya telah bertukar bentuk, menjadi lebih kuat. Yaitu Mata Sharingan. Darah warisan yg baru ini ada dua tahap. Sharingan Biasa dan Mangekyou Sharingan. Seperti ayahnya Madara memiliki kuasa mistik yg menakjubkan. Dia mampu mengunakan telepati atau bergerak merentasi dimensi. Mata Sharingan biasa Madara sentiasa aktif sepanjang waktu tanpa perlu mengunakan chakra. Dia juga telah menciptakan 3 jutsu yg istimewa. Tsukiyomi( membuat orang menjadi gila ), Amaterasu ( teknik memindah objek atau orang ke dimensi lain), dan Susanoo ( teknik membuat angin).

Disebabkan keberaniannya dan kekuatan yg diamiliki, Madara menjadi pelindung kampung konoha meskipun dia masih remaja ketika itu. Dia menjadi rekan karib Shodaime. Dan mereka bersama2 bertanggungjawab melindungi kampung Konoha. Madara mendirikan Pasukan Polisi Konoha yg pertama dan berjanji akan melindungi kampung Konoha walaupun harus mempertaruhkan nyawanya sekalipun.

Namun ketenangan itu tidak lama berlangsung, saat Madara menjadi dewasa, Sojobo mulai memunculkan niat sebenarnya. Sojobo menikahi ibu Madara bukan atas dasar cinta. Dia hanya mencari tubuh manusia yg sempurna utk di diami.( Mcm Jutsu Orochimaru). Dia mendapati cara yg terbaik adalah memperolehnya dari darah dagingnya sendiri. Sojobo berniat mengambil tubuh Madara saat dia menjadi dewasa. Madara mengetahui niat ayahnya ini. Dia merasa marah dan terkejut sekali. Dia merasa dirinya diperalat namun dia tidak menyerah begitu saja. Madara sadar bahwa dia tidak setanding dengan ayahnya. Lalu dia pun meminta bantuan dari Bijuu( atau di kenal sebagai Kyuubi) Kyuubi Si Dewa Api.

Kyuubi sangat kagum dengan kekuatan yang di miliki Madara. Satu perjanjian telah di buat dan Kyuubi setuju meminjamkan kekuatannya kepada Madara. Tidak lama kemudian Madara Berjaya dengan menguasai Jurus “ Katon” yg mengeluarkan api gelap yg membakar 7 hari 7 malam jika di aktifkan bersama Amaterasu. Walaupun dengan adanya bantuan dari kekuatan Kyuubi, Madara hanya mampu mengalahkan Sojobo tapi tidak dapat membunuhnya. Madara pun mengurung(Teknik Seal) Sojobo dengan Jurus seal yg istimewa. Untuk membuka seal ini diperlukan Kuasa Kyuubi serta 3 orang ahli Uchiha yg memiliki Mata Mangekyou Sharingan. Tapi Madara tidak menduga akan terjadi peristiwa berdarah karena kejadian ini di kemudian hari .

Shodaime yg mengetahui tentang perjanjian antara Madara dengan Kyuubi menjadi sangat marah. .Shodaime mengira Madara seorang yg haus akan kekuatan sehingga menyebabkan dia membuat perjanjian bersama Kyuubi. Madara tidak menjelaskan kejadian sebenarnya karena dia tidak mau siapapun tahu bahwa dia adalah manusia separuh raksasa. Konflik mulai timbul antara keduanya, sehingga terjadi pertarungan yg hebat di Valley of End. ( Tempat yg sama terjadi pertarungan antara Naruto dan Sasuke nnt).

Setelah sekian lama sejak Sojobo di kurung, darah Tengu dalam keturunan Uchiha sudah tidak seperti dulu. Hanya karna di sebabkan pernikahan antara klan Uchiha dengan non-Uchiha selama beberapa generasi. Bahkan Sharingan biasa pun jarang sekali di temui kecuali pada sebagian kecil golongan elit klan Uchiha saja. Bahkan sejarah hitam klan Uchiha juga telah di lupakan. Sebuah Altar Tengu telah di bina di bawah Kuil Nakano untuk menyimpan rahasia klan Uchiha yg di sembunyikan oleh Madara( termasuk rahasia tentang membunuh org tersayang utk memiliki Mangekyou Sharingan). Rahasia ini telah di ketahui beberapa org dari klan uchiha. Klan Uchiha beranggapan rahasia ini adalah sesuatu yg memalukan dan bersumpah akan melindunginya.

20 tahun lalu, seorang ahli klan Uchiha telah di lahirkan. Dia kemudian membuktikan dia seorang yg istimewa untuk tahap biasa bg Klan Uchiha. Dia lulus akademi ninja pada umur 7 tahun, mampu mengaktifkan sharingan ketika baru berusia 8 tahun, menjadi Chunnin saat berusia 10 tahun dan menjadi Commander pasukan ANBU pada usia 13 tahun. Dia bernama Uchiha Itachi. Semasa Itachi telah terpilih menjadi anggota ahli ANBU, ayahnya Uchiha Fugaku merasa sudah saatnya memberitahu segala rahasia klan uchiha. Itachi mendapati tahu tentang MS serta asal-usul klan Uchiha. Dalam pikiran Itachi timbul niat jahat….

Pada suatu malam, semua lelaki dari klan Uchiha harus berkumpul dlm satu pertemuan penting. Tetapi 2 org tidak hadir yaitu Itachi dan Shisui. Itachi telah mengajak kawan baiknya Shisui ke sungai Nakano dan melakukan niat jahatnya. Dia membunuh Shisui pada malam itu dan memperoleh mata Mangekyou Sharingan. Pada keesokan harinya mayat Shisui di temukan bersama nota yg menyatakan dia telah membunuh dirinya sendiri. Sebenarnya Itachi telah meniru tulisan Shisui untuk mengelabui mata org.

Karena hidup dlm ketakutan, takut kalau org mengetahui keturunan Uchiha adalah keturunan raksasa. Mereka sepakat utk menyimpan rahasia ini sampai mati. Itachi tidak setuju.Dia melihat klannya sudah tidak ada masa depan.Dia tidak paham mengapa mereka harus merasa malu tentang masa lalu mereka. Dia tidak paham mengapa klannya tidak mengunakan keistimewaan yg di miliki. Itachi merasa marah karena klannya memilih jalan yg seperti itu.

Ketika Itachi mendengar cerita tentang asal-usul keturunan Uchiha.Dia merasakan satu perasaan yg aneh, gembira dan merasa kuat. Itachi berfikir bahwa dia adalah orang yg paling istimewa diantara yg lain. Dia ingin melepaskan Seal Sojobo. Dia rela mengorbankan badannya untuk mendapat kuasa terhebat yg pernah dia lihat.

Lalu Itachi pun melaksanakan niatnya. Itachi tahu niat Akatsuki ingin mendapatkan Bijuu lalu dia mengambil keputusan utk bergabung dengan perkumpulan itu. Dia masuk karena ingin mendapatkan kekuatan Kyuubi.Bukan itu saja, Itachi memerlukan 3 orang Mangekyou Sharingan. Sekarang dia hanya perlu seorang lagi Mangekyou Sharingan.

Itachi menyedari bahwa ahli2 keturunannya tidak sanggup membunuh sahabat mereka atau org yang dekat dengan mereka untuk memiliki MS. Tapi Itachi mendapat akal untuk memperalat adiknya, Sasuke sebagai MS yg ketiga.

Pada mlm bulan penuh. Itachi membunuh seluruh ahli keturunan Uchiha termasuk ibu dan ayahnya sendiri.Kemudian dia menunggu adiknya pulang , Sasuke. Dia mau adiknya tahu bahwa dialah pelakunya. Itachi mengunakan Jurus Tsukiyomi kepada Sasuke dengan harapan Sasuke akan membencinya. Dia mau Sasuke memiliki perasaan kebencian yg kuat sehingga mampu membunuh kawannya sendiri dan mendapatkan MS. Itachi memberitahu Sasuke tempat pertemuan rahasia di kuil Nakano agar Sasuke mengetahui segala rahasia keturunan Uchiha. Dia mau Sasuke mengikuti perkataan yg di katakannya..yaitu menjadi seorang pendendam.

Gaara adalah nama seorang tokoh fiksi dalam seri manga dan anime Naruto. Gaara adalah seorang ninja yang mempunyai kekuatan untuk mengendalikan dan mengontrol pasir. Ciri khasnya adalah gentong pasir yang selalu dibawa-bawa di punggungnya dan tato "ai - cinta" pada dahinya.
Dia merupakan jinchuuriki Shukaku, bijuu berekor satu. Ia terlindungi setiap saat oleh perisai pasir, tetapi dia harus menderita insomnia seumur hidup sebagai efek sampingnya. Gaara tak akan pernah bisa tidur karena ketika dia tidur, Shukaku akan menguasai tubuh dan pikirannya.
Dirinya yang suka membunuh akhirnya tersentuh karena telah dikalahkan dan disadarkan Naruto dalam suatu pertarungan bahwa seseorang akan menjadi lebih kuat kalau ia bertarung demi seseorang yang dicintainya. Di awal serial Naruto Shippuden, Gaara sekarat sehabis bertarung melawan anggota Akatsuki (Deidara), dan akhirnya meninggal karena diekstraknya Shukaku secara paksa oleh Akatsuki. Tetapi, berkat bantuan nenek Chiyo dan Sakura, serta Naruto yang rela memberikan sebagian chakranya, Gaara hidup kembali.
Marga asli Gaara adalah 'Rei'. Julukannya adalah 'Sabaku no Gaara' atau bila diartikan adalah 'Gaara si Pengendali Pasir'.
Pada awal kemunculannya, tokoh Gaara dianggap sebagai tokoh antagonis yang mengerikan karena sifatnya yang kejam dan tidak segan-segan membunuh lawan. Ia membuat Rock Lee cedera parah dalam pertarungan di ujian Chuunin, dan berniat mencelakai teman-teman Naruto. Bahkan penduduk Sunagakure menganggap ia monster dan menjauhinya. Karena kesepian dan kurang perhatian sejak kecil, makanya tumbuh besar tanpa mengenal cinta dan beranggapan tujuan hidupnya adalah membunuh.
Untungnya, pertarungan melawan Naruto seusai Ujian Chuunin membuatnya berubah pikiran. Ia berubah menjadi orang yang lebih baik, peduli sesama, dan rela berkorban demi ketentraman desanya. Ia pun ingin merubah cara pandang penduduk Sunagakure terhadap dirinya, makanya ia mau diangkat menjadi Kazekage kelima dan melindungi desanya.Pada saat pertemuan kelima Kage,Gaara juga muncul sebagai Kage termuda dari seluruh lima Negara Shinobi terbesar.
